Resonant features in the stochastic gravitational wave background

چکیده
We analyse the post-inflationary contribution to stochastic gravitational wave background due a resonant feature in scalar power spectrum, which is characterised by an oscillation log(k), complementing our previous work arXiv:2012.02761 on sharp features. Primordial features signal departures of inflation from single-field slow-roll paradigm and are motivated embeddings high energy physics. find that spectrum leads corresponding modulation can be understood as superposition two oscillatory pieces, one with original frequency oscillations, double frequency. For oscillations slowly-varying amplitude this part computed semi-analytically. Our results used templates for reconstruction future data permit extracting information about small scale measurements background.

متن کاملGravitational-wave stochastic background from cosmic strings.
We consider the stochastic background of gravitational waves produced by a network of cosmic strings and assess their accessibility to current and planned gravitational wave detectors, as well as to big bang nucleosynthesis (BBN), cosmic microwave background (CMB), and pulsar timing constraints. We find that current data from interferometric gravitational wave detectors, such as Laser Interfero...

متن کاملLimits on Anisotropy in the Nanohertz Stochastic Gravitational Wave Background.
The paucity of observed supermassive black hole binaries (SMBHBs) may imply that the gravitational wave background (GWB) from this population is anisotropic, rendering existing analyses suboptimal. We present the first constraints on the angular distribution of a nanohertz stochastic GWB from circular, inspiral-driven SMBHBs using the 2015 European Pulsar Timing Array data. Our analysis of the ...
متن کاملModulating the experimental signature of a stochastic gravitational wave background
Detecting a stationary, stochastic gravitational wave signal is complicated by impossibility of observing the detector noise independently of the signal. One consequence is that we require at least two detectors to observe the signal, which will be apparent in the cross-correlation of the detector outputs. A corollary is that there remains a systematic error, associated with the possible presen...
